Job Title: IT Support Technician

Type: Contract (6 Months)

Location: Vancouver, WA (On-site)

Cannot work C2C or with 3rd parties

Must be authorized to work in US- No sponsorship

Overview:

Maintains and supports a variety of specialized computer hardware, software, components, and devices. Primary contact for training and support to end users. Assists Information Technology Manager with analytical duties in the development, operations and administration of computer and telecommunications, and performs a variety of other technical duties relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

· Administer user accounts on all applicable VHA systems; add, delete, and modify accounts ensuring employees have appropriate access to VHA computing resources.

· Install, maintain, and repair all computer hardware systems including printers, servers, communication, and network related equipment.

· Investigates, analyzes, and resolves computer related problems. Resolves compatibility problems. Troubleshoots system software, hardware, and communication problems, recommends, and implements changes and improvements.

· Troubleshoots diagnoses and resolves hardware, software, and operator problems

· Installs, configures, and supports hardware and software, operating systems, peripheral equipment and VHA's local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN). Maintains network hardware and software. Monitors network to ensure network availability to all system users and performs necessary maintenance to support network availability.

· Assist Development department during new construction projects to ensure all IT concerns are adequately addressed.

· Help train staff on the basic use of all standard VHA hardware and software and support department specific end user training. Train departmental knowledge area experts using "train the trainer" approach.

· Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems

· Monitors system security. Identifies unauthorized access and potential security risks and makes recommendations on security enhancements.

· Provides technical assistance in the development of policies and procedures related to system availability, security, and related services. Maintains operational practices to support policies and procedures.

· Within Authority guidelines, contacts vendors for components, technical reference and/or services required for system maintenance and enhancement projects. Serves as liaison with system software, hardware, network, and telecommunication suppliers and vendors to resolve system and telecommunication issues.

· Maintains current knowledge of best practices and developing industry trends and innovations. Keeps the staff abreast of changes in relevant laws and regulations.

· Consistently complies with position and department safety and attendance standards.

· Establishes and maintains positive, productive relationships with employees, residents, public officials, vendors, and other work-related contacts.

Required Experience:

· Bachelor's degree in computer related technology computer science, MIS or related subject OR at least 5 years of recent experience in an equivalent capacity.

· Demonstrated experience in and working knowledge of Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop; Exchange Online, Office 365, SharePoint, Azure Files Services; Azure Active Directory, Windows Service management.

· Experience administering local and cloud-based computer hardware and telecommunications functions strongly preferred.
