Job Title: Senior Manager, Software Engineering - AWS, Java
Location: Fully onsite in Irvine, CA
Employment Type: Direct-hire
Compensation: $200,000 to $260,000 (based on experience)

Seeking a Leader will play a critical role in building a small team, leading and mentoring a team of talented backend engineers responsible for developing and maintaining large-scale, highly scalable and secure cloud services that support consumer user-facing applications OR business applications (enterprise networking, access, and security).

A technically hands-on leader experienced in building a small team from the ground up
.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership, mentorship and direction to the backend engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Partner with product managers and business stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into robust, scalable, and maintainable backend solutions.
• Lead the design, development, and deployment of cloud-based backend services using modern technologies and best practices (e.g., microservices architecture, APIs, DevOps methodologies).
• Ensure the security, reliability, and performance of backend systems.
• Attract, recruit, and retain top backend engineering talent.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team.
• Stay up to date on the latest cloud technologies and trends and evaluate their potential impact on consumer applications.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years of experience in cloud backend development (AWS-preferred)
• 5+ years of experience in a leadership role managing a team of backend engineers.
• Strong understanding of backend development principles (APIs, databases, distributed systems, data security).
• Experience building and scaling enterprise/business applications in enterprise networking, access, and security.
• Experience with API design and development principles.
• Experience with JAVA backend development frameworks and technologies (like SpringBoot and SpringCloud).
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases. (MySQL, MongoDB, Cassendra, Redis)
• Proven experience designing, developing, and deploying highly scalable and secure cloud-based applications.
• Experience with microservices architecture, APIs, and DevOps methodologies (CI/CD pipelines, key indicators like SLA/SLO/SLI).
