Job Title: Lead/Manager of Data (Logistics Technology)
Location: Fully onsite nearby Placentia, CA
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Compensation: Up to $75.00 per hour W2

Position Overview: They are seeking a strategic and experienced Lead/Manager of Data to lead the data operations team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and optimization of the data-driven business model. The ideal candidate will not only have a strong technical background but also possess a deep understanding of the logistics industry (or strong curiosity in learning the business) and a knack for translating data insights into actionable business strategies for clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize technical expertise in working with S3 and Redshift - where data is archived.
  • Lead efforts to build robust data processing and automation pipelines to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into data-driven solutions that optimize the business model for profitability.
  • Mentor and manage a small team of data analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and excellence.
  • Drive initiatives to improve data quality, reliability, and scalability while staying abreast of industry best practices and technological advancements.
  • Act as a liaison between onshore and offshore teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration to maximize operational effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in data engineering or data analysis roles.
  • Industry experience within the logistics or transportation industry, highly preferred but not required. Accustomed to working in a startup environment preferred.
  • Expertise in managing and optimizing data infrastructure, including experience with cloud-based technologies such as AWS (Amazon S3, Redshift).
  • Hands-on experience in designing and implementing data processing pipelines, automation, and analytics solutions.
  • Expert level AWS Redshift experience, how to manage data from multiple sources, types, durations etc and make it available for business efficacy.
  • SQL Server experience, importing/exporting data from servers to cloud to ensure accuracy and cleanliness.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and developing small data team.
  • Business acumen and the ability to understand and align technical decisions with business objectives, driving impactful outcomes are key!
