Ledgent Technology is seeking a SQL Database Administrator III to perform client/server and web-based systems support for a Tech company located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
This is a remote opportunity; however, preference will be given to those who reside in or near South Florida. Preference will also be given to those who are in the Eastern, Central or Mountain time zones.
Please note that this is a level III position. Applicants should have experience:
5+ years supporting SQL server andAmazon Redshift (required)
Experience comfortably working with Developers to identify problems and make recommendations that may impact the environment as a whole.
This person will:
Have a varied background - various environments, a variety of problems to troubleshoot - at the lowest & highest levels.
Have ample experience working in an enterprise level environment
Have experience supporting web applications - will have experience with Web interfaces.
Know the SQL environment inside and out.
Be responsible for configuring and tuning SQL servers
Be responsible for putting standards in place.
Understand tooling and automation
What you will be doing:
Perform client-server and web-based systems support.
Provide support for mission critical DBs and applications.
Develop operational support models and documentation.
Provide information on long-term technology solutions to meet the company's information need as well as maintain database reliability & service level standards.
Establish and utilize effective policies and procedures for the definition, management, protection, and efficient utilization of systems, data and DBs.
Provide ongoing support for current solutions, new products, and changes to existing solutions to continuously improve the reliability and availability of business applications
SQL script deployments - ensuring code safety before deployments occur
Support of third-party products related to core MS SQL Server architecture, backups, restores, and security administration
Patch internal databases, applications, and third-party tools - SolarWinds/DPA
Continuously monitor current architecture
Knowledge of SSIS/SSRS deployments and basic knowledge of TFS for code deployments
SQL Server installations
Work with technical and non-technical team members to ensure smooth operations of the development, test and production environments
Perform database troubleshooting with vendors
Perform ongoing configuration management
Participate in the research and recommendation of new software and/or updates of current software
Recommend improvements to architecture management processes and procedures
Performance turning and troubleshooting database performance
Creation and scripting of databases and database objects
Monitor and troubleshoot databases to optimize database performance, resource use and perform daily checks of all the SQL related processes.
Participate in software development as needed
What you should bring to the table:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or another IT related field strongly preferred.
5+ years of hands-on experience administering MS SQL databases AND Amazon Redshift in enterprise level environments
Advanced knowledge of relational DBs and SQL core components.
Experience implementing, maintaining, monitoring and tuning SQL Server Databases and related applications.
Experience conducting database backup and recovery / disaster recover planning and testing.
Experience planning, monitoring and managing the use of database space.
