Well-rounded Technical Architect with experience in Public Works or Utility sector

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • May act as a project manager managing through matrixed employees/teams/vendors who are not direct reports but for which the incumbent has direct accountability to lead and achieve project objectives. Progression reflects increasing depth of professional knowledge, experience, project management skills, and ability to influence others.
  • Accomplish work through the applied technical skills and expertise in the design, development, modification, and implementation of short- and long-term solutions to information technology (IT) needs through new and existing applications, systems architecture, network systems, and applications infrastructure.
  • Advise, guide and work with other employees and leaders, however, work is accomplished primarily through the employees own work activity.
  • Identify business requirements and recommend system alternatives/enhancements.
  • Design and develop IT architecture (integrated process, applications, data and technology) solutions including planning, architecture development, and development of specifications for new products/services, applications and service offerings.
  • Provide support for cloud operations including implementing Cloud infrastructure standards, and monitoring services.
  • Configure, implement, maintain and upgrade Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) application modules (e.g., Human Resources, Finance, Supply Chain Management) and provide end user support.
  • Provide application software development services or technical support including developing program logic for applications and coding, testing, debugging, documenting and implementing software applications.
  • Engineer, construct, and operate the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system used to control and monitor the electric grid and maintain the equipment and applications in support of the Grid Control Center (GCC) and Distribution Operating Centers (DOCs).
  • Conduct a wide range of quality control tests and analysis to ensure that software meets or exceeds standards and end user requirements.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in applicable profession, business, or technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Possesses seven to ten years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience managing work orders/projects and maintaining a current understanding of industry practices, and standards.
  • Demonstrated experience working with customers, identifying needs and resolving customer issues.
  • Demonstrated experience, training, or education applying technical information related to engineering, drafting, architecture, construction, mapping, design, mechanics, mathematics, science or computers.
  • Demonstrated experience managing several projects concurrently, adjusting to shifting priorities, and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather and analyze information and make sound decisions independently and in consideration of applicable policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and be accountable for the accuracy of information and for achieving results.
