Role: Head of Engineering

Position Type: Direct Hire, Full Time

Location: Bellevue, WA - hybrid

Annual Salary: $180-200K + 25% annual bonus

*MUST have prior experience within B2B payment systems/services*

SUMMARY:

The Head of Engineering assumes leadership over the software development team, ensuring adherence to regulations and objectives while driving technical decisions and upholding quality standards. This role demands passion, intelligence, ownership, and strong interpersonal skills to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Experience in team management across diverse skill sets, spanning infrastructure, web services, and front-end technologies within a distributed architecture, is highly valued. Additionally, proficiency in collaborating with onshore, nearshore, and offshore teams is advantageous.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Adaptability to adopt new technologies swiftly

· Design and construct tools and infrastructure to enhance engineering team productivity

· Assess and monitor the performance of software engineering personnel, providing guidance based on their roles and skill levels

· Oversee the training of software engineering staff, ensuring compliance with standards, and conducting regular performance evaluations

· Lead teams in transitioning from traditional sprint-based development to Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) frameworks

· Develop technical proposals and reports

· Ensure accountability within the team for addressing post-deployment issues on released projects

· Demonstrate creativity and openness to explore diverse solutions for essential features

· Supervise engineers proficient in C#, .NET, Angular, Azure infrastructure, and SQL databases

· Monitor infrastructure usage and devise cost-saving strategies to align with business objectives

· Establish standards compliant with PII, PCI, and other relevant regulations for product and infrastructure maintenance

· Monitor alerts and errors for timely resolution

· Rapidly prototype innovative solutions and guide projects from prototype to production stage

· Collaborate effectively within Scrum teams and with the product organization to align on goals, assess requirements, and manage backlog tasks

· Proactively address technical debt concerns and communicate their significance, proposing viable resolution paths

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience

· Experience within B2B payment systems/services

· 7+ years of industry experience in management roles, with a hands-on approach and a penchant for tackling complex challenges

· Exceptional interpersonal, problem-solving, and analytical skills

· Proficiency in Agile Software Development methodologies (e.g., Scrum, XP)

· Sound understanding of Object-Oriented Programming principles, data structures, algorithms, and system-level programming, including multi-threaded programming.
