Position Summary:

The Android Software Engineer is an essential leader & contributor within the project team, establishing the build environment/tooling, defining/evolving the application architecture, and developing new product features for our Android/Java mobile application. As a leader, this engineer will be responsible for all aspects of the application, covering functionality, performance tuning, production support escalations, etc. This engineer will also lead in the design, coding and testing of complex interfaces connected to backend REST services. They will review requirements & UI designs, and work in an agile manner to bring these experiences to market

Essential Functions:

  • Design, code, and test large software modules
  • Work collaboratively with other frontend & backend engineers
  • Utilize source control, build, deployment, etc tools
  • Be able to analyze & accurately estimate the effort to deliver a complex set of requirements
  • Follow all company standards & policies
  • Resolve difficult software problems/bugs via advanced debugging techniques

Technical Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Computer Science (or equivalent) is required
  • At least five (5) years of Java programming experience
  • Strong working knowledge of continuous delivery & build automation tools. Will be required to setup the CI jobs via Jenkins, define & maintain Gradle project files, etc
  • Experience with GIT required
  • At least three (3) years of Android programming experience
  • Solid experience programming for Google and Apple VAS protocols
  • Have published or participated in publishing one or more Android apps
  • Experience with the Android SDK
  • Experience working with remote data via REST APIs and JSON
  • Experience with payment peripherals a plus
  • Working knowledge of the general mobile landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies
  • Solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle.
  • Conversant in web application security best practices and standards required
  • Candidate must have strong mobile device / application troubleshooting & problem-solving skills
  • Candidate must be very detailed focused with an emphasis on quality and complete end-to-end testing

  • Implement new features on the handheld Android access control application in support of NFC scanning of Google and Apple passes
  • Implement new features on the pedestal/wall mounted Android access control application in support of controlling access to suite seating & VIP areas, via ticket barcodes, wallet passes, digital cards, etc
  • Implement new ecommerce features on the handheld Android device
  • Implement reporting & charting features within the mobile application
  • Enhance the application's CI/CD infrastructure
